A Legacy of Phosphorus
We can't control how phosphorus was used in the past, but that phosphorus requires management today. In watersheds across the globe, phosphorus levels from past applications--so called "legacy phosphorus"--has overwhelmed the capacity of the soil to store it. As a result, these soils can bleed phosphorus and pollute nearby waterbodies.

In this 90-minute webinar, we'll describe the global magnitude of this problem, the soil chemistry of legacy phosphorus, and the techniques at our disposal for dealing with legacy phosphorus losses to water. Our panelists include Dr. Dean Hesterberg, of the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials, Dr. Isis Scott of the University of Maryland, and Dr. Jean-Olivier Goyette of the University of Montreal. We'll have plenty of time for questions and answers from the audience.
